Two boys, aged 12 and 13, were hospitalized after a knife attack inside Kingsbury High School in the north London borough of Brent, United Kingdom on Tuesday lunchtime. A 13-year-old suspect, believed to be Muslim, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody.

Police were called to Bacon Lane at around 12:40 pm following reports that a pupil had been stabbed. Armed officers arrived within 13 minutes. At the scene, officers learned a second boy had also been stabbed. Both victims were taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, according to the Metropolitan Police.

The suspect allegedly shouted “Allahu Akbar” during the attack, prompting the investigation to be led by Counter Terrorism Policing London. Authorities said the incident has not been declared a terrorist attack at this time.

Detective Superintendent Luke Williams said: “Officers were called to Bacon Lane at around 12:40hrs following a report that a 13-year-old boy had been stabbed.” He confirmed a weapon was recovered and that police are not currently seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.

Witness accounts indicate the suspect may have been an excluded former pupil who returned to the school wearing uniform and entered by climbing over a wall. He allegedly used pepper spray on a teacher during a science lesson before stabbing a 13-year-old boy in the midriff and a 12-year-old boy in the neck.

One of the injured boys is being described by parents as a “hero.” Simon Theodorou, whose child attends the school, said the stabbed pupil “pulled the fire alarm” after being attacked. Social media posts from students said the alarm led to a full evacuation of the building.

A student wrote online that the attacker “came in with his old KHS uniform and didn't get suspected by teachers.” Another claimed the suspect had previously fought with one of the victims and had been expelled weeks earlier.

Detective Chief Superintendent Helen Flanagan said: “I can now confirm that the injuries suffered by the two victims, while serious, are thankfully not life-threatening and they remain in hospital in a stable condition.”

Police said the investigation remains ongoing and patrols in the area have been increased. The suspect remains in custody, where he is expected to be questioned further.
