Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec broke down the first draft of President Donald Trump's peace deal for Ukraine and Russia on Thursday, following reports that the unconfirmed plan had been leaked from the Ukrainian side. According to the Daily Mail, Ukrainian outlet Strana published the details, which have reportedly been circulating in diplomatic and political circles within Ukraine.

Posobiec highlighted key elements of the plan, stating, "Breaking news over the break just there! … Daily Mail has reported, Trump’s peace plan for Ukraine just leaked. According to the report, it looks like it was leaked from the Ukrainian side. Here’s what we’re seeing: ceasefire by Easter, President Trump aims to have Zelensky aim for a ceasefire by April 20 to stop Russia’s advance. Ukraine would be barred from joining NATO under the plan. Kiev would recognize Russian sovereignty over annexed land  and withdraw troops from Kerch, which is in Ukrainian territory. European, possibly British, troops would police a possibly new demilitarized zone—no U.S. involvement. I’ve been telling you about this for almost a year at this point… EU assistance for Ukraine at almost $500 billion over a decade."

The leaked plan reportedly proposes that Ukraine would maintain its military while receiving continued U.S. support. However, it would be required to "refuse military and diplomatic attempts to return the occupied territories" taken by Russia and "officially recognize the sovereignty of the Russian Federation over them." Additionally, the European Union would be asked to contribute up to $486 billion for Ukraine’s reconstruction over the next ten years.

“This is a framework… Obviously, this is the opening bid," Posobiec noted, adding that negotiations are still far from finalized. "Sounds like what we’re hearing from the American side, but of course, the enemy gets a vote. What’s Ukraine going to say, what’s Russia going to say? Will they agree to these terms?"

One of the most contentious elements of the plan is the restriction on Ukraine’s NATO membership. Posobiec questioned how this would be received by Ukrainian officials, particularly in the context of an upcoming NATO summit. "This will be really interesting to see whether Zelensky or his defense minister show up to the NATO summit in Belgium. If they show up after they’ve already been told that the opening bid from the United States is no NATO membership for Zelensky, what are they going to be doing there in the building?… There’s going to be a lot of questions there as well, because what about NATO partnership? NATO coordination? Which, by the way, NATO and the United States have been conducting on the territory of Ukraine for over a decade at this point."

Posobiec also raised concerns about how Russia might respond, noting that the Kremlin has consistently pushed for a neutral Ukraine. "This is going to be a huge point of contention for the Russians. You can watch Vladimir Putin’s interview with Tucker or Sergei Lavrov’s interview. They don’t just want no NATO membership for Ukraine, they want no NATO involvement at all. They want to see a neutral Ukraine, one that isn’t entangled with any foreign military alliances."

The leaked plan aligns with Trump’s previous statements on the war. In a recent Truth Social post, Trump urged for a quick settlement, warning that without a deal, he would have "no other choice but to put high levels of Taxes, Tariffs, and Sanctions on anything being sold by Russia to the United States, and various other participating countries. Let’s get this war, which never would have started if I were President, over with!"
