According to the Daily Mail, Ukrainian outlet Strana published the unconfirmed plans, which have been making their way around the war-torn country in "political and diplomatic circles." Trump has long promised to be able to bring to the war between the two countries to an end once he was elected president.
The unconfirmed plans include a ceasefire by April 20 and would ban Ukraine from joining NATO. Russia would also halt its advances. Leaking of the 100-day plan, as reported by Newsweek, could lead to issues with Russian President Vladimir Putin or Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky not agreeing to the conditions set. The plans reportedly include an ask of the EU to provide as much as $486 billion to help Ukraine rebuild as well.
The plan includes that Ukraine would keep its army the same size and get support from the US. However, it would be required to "refuse military and diplomatic attempts to return the occupied territories" taken by Russia and "officially recognize the sovereignty of the Russian Federation over them."
Last month, Trump wrote in a Truth Social post that Russia and Ukraine needed to settle the conflict soon or else it would only get worse. “If we don’t make a 'deal,' and soon, I have no other choice but to put high levels of Taxes, Tariffs, and Sanctions on anything being sold by Russia to the United States, and various other participating countries. Let’s get this war, which never would have started if I were President, over with!” Trump said.
“We can do it the easy way, or the hard way - and the easy way is always better,” he added at the time. The day after the post, Trump told reporters that Zelensky was "ready to make a deal" to end the war as Trump also demanded a meeting with Putin.
The conflict between the two warring countries has a longer history, but escalated quickly in 2022 when Russia invaded. The US has been aiding Ukraine in is war effort, but many Americans have grown tired of funding the country.
