Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec weighed in on the Michigan Senate race between Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed and Republican candidate Mike Rogers, speaking with Michigan House Majority Leader Bryan Posthumus about the stakes in the upcoming election.
Posobiec was reporting from Dallas, Texas, as the GOP’s midterm convention was underway. Roger is scheduled to speak at the event as part of his campaign, bringing more national attention to the Michigan race.
Posobiec asked Posthumus to walk listeners through the connection between Rogers’ campaign trail and what is taking place in the state.
“In Michigan, we are spreading the message right now that America and the state of Michigan is in a battle,” Posthumus said. "We are in a battle of common sense versus socialism. Common sense versus terrorist sympathizing. That’s the battle we’re in here in Michigan.” He later added, "the reality is we are in a fight, a battle of ideas: communism, socialism, terrorist sympathizing versus common sense. Mike Rogers is common sense."
The GOP midterm convention provides Republicans with an opportunity to outline their strategy heading into the final stretch of this year’s elections, while the Michigan Senate race remains closely contested.
A poll conducted for WDIV-TV and The Detroit News between August 31 and September 3 found Rogers with 45.8 percent support compared to El-Sayed’s 44.4 percent. El-Sayed has faced Republican criticism over several of his socialist-style policy proposals, including his proposal for public ownership of artificial intelligence companies. He has also downplayed child sex-change procedures, comparing them to circumcisions.
The Democratic candidate has faced continued scrutiny over his association with far-left Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, who supported El-Sayed in the primary campaign. Piker has previously said that America deserved 9/11 and has called for violence against Republicans and capitalists.
In August, Rogers posted on X, “If Abdul El-Sayed had any courage at all, he would call this out and disavow Hasan Piker once and for all.”
