Abusali Rahman, a 36-year-old British national of Bangladeshi ethnicity, appeared at Bolton Crown Court via video link on Tuesday. He pleaded guilty to 12 counts of taking indecent photographs of children by upskirting, four counts of publishing an obscene article, three counts of making indecent photographs of children, one count of voyeurism, and one count of distributing an indecent photograph of a child.
Rahman’s defense claimed that while he knows he has earned a prison sentence, he was going through a “mental health crisis” at the time. She asked for a psychiatric report before his sentencing, per Sky News.
Rahman allegedly committed these crimes against more than 14 victims across several schools. Greater Manchester Police said he was arrested in June 2025 following complaints about pictures circulating of school children in uniform.
Speaking outside court, Detective Sergeant Simon France said the guilty pleas were the result of a “painstaking, thorough investigation”. Alex Mann, an official from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), condemned the alleged crimes.
“This was a horrifying case involving an abuse of trust that affected multiple young victims," he said.
The defendant will remain in custody and is due to be sentenced on Sep 1, 2026.
