September 10th, 2025 marked one of the most tragic days in the annals of the United States. Our beloved friend and conservative luminary, Charlie James Kirk, was brutally assassinated by a deranged leftist 22-year-old gunman, now in the custody of the FBI. The past few days have been a harrowing ordeal for all of us in the conservative media and Republican politics. Charlie's influence on our youth, his unwavering faith, and his shaping of the next generation of conservatives demand the highest recognition from our nation's government, states, and educational institutions.
Clay Travis, of Outkick, discussed Charlie's impact on the youth in a segment on his show, stating that a listener's son was a massive admirer of Kirk's and had started a Turning Point USA chapter in Cape Coral, Florida. The 20-year-old son said he had been listening to Charlie and considering him his hero since he was nine years old. Hearing that will take a man's breath away. Charlie not only had an impact on high school and college-aged people, but children as young as fourth graders had been listening to and idolizing Charlie for the last decade. If Charlie has an impact on kids as small as fourth grade, imagine the impact those kids will have on the world because they had the chance to hear Charlie's words.
Charlie was a beacon of inspiration for all of us who sought to spread our message through our Christian faith, conservative values, and our pride in this great nation. His impact through campus debates, media presence, Turning Point USA, and grassroots efforts is truly immeasurable. His influence is not something that can be replicated. It is for this reason that we must take steps to ensure his memory is forever enshrined in our nation's history.
October 14th, which is Charlie's birthday, should be made a national federal holiday for a man who had such a profound impact on an entire generation of people, regardless of class or demographic. Charlie Kirk was universally recognized for his willingness to engage in conversation with those who hated him, perhaps more than any other person in American history. During his "American Comeback Tour," he was fatally shot in front of a table that had a sign that said, ironically enough, "Prove Me Wrong." In an attempt to facilitate uncomfortable conversations for all who would be willing to participate in debate and discourse with him, Charlie opened himself up to criticism, debate, critiques, and needed talks with students and grown adults alike who disagreed with him. For that, he was assassinated.
Men are weeping in the streets due to his death, and so many are rightfully remembering him as a Christian martyr who was murdered for simply expressing his viewpoint and attempting to talk to the other side that he opposed. As an inspiring symbol of debate, discourse, and faith in Christ that Charlie embodied, his memory should never be forgotten. It should be immortalized through a national federal holiday entitled "Charlie James Kirk Day." Charlie's memory deserves national acclaim on a day of remembrance in his honor; a day when we can pause, pray, and dedicate ourselves to his mission.
In addition, we should see a movement by the federal government, state governments around our nation, and the colleges and universities that Charlie visited to take concrete actions for national recognition. These actions could include erecting statues, naming facilities after him, and establishing scholarships in his honor through the National Endowment for the Arts, the Department of Education, or other means necessary.
When attending a post-secondary institution, a student's mind is supposed to be opened up to different viewpoints. More than arguably anyone else in American history, Charlie embodied open conversations in an attempt to expose the youth to ulterior perspectives, change minds, and inspire those who agreed with him to be active within the conservative movement. If you disagreed with Charlie, he prayed for you and respected your voice.
If you agreed with him, he wanted you to be fervent about the Christian conservative movement that he was attempting to spread. He had successfully done so since he started his career as an eighteen-year-old in 2012. Charlie represented what our nation was supposed to look like: a man grounded in his moral worldview, willing to defend it with all his might against anyone who challenged him. Charlie was a warrior, and warriors deserve statues, holidays, and commemoration. He is deserving of those accolades and so much more from our country.
In an era where statues are torn down, history is erased if they are white and conservative, and men like Charlie are murdered for their beliefs, we need, as a nation, to honor the message that he was trying to convey to the rest of the world. Charlie Kirk embodied conservatism, but more than that, he represented what America is supposed to be. The land of freedom, opportunity, and discourse that the founding fathers established to write the Constitution and create the most incredible country known to man. He not only deserves to be remembered but also immortalized in the enclaves of United States history.
Charlie fought for the generation that ended up murdering him for his beliefs. His leftist assassin was a mere 22 years old, and Kirk knew that he had to battle inward to save his own generation from itself. He was not only fighting for their minds, but for the souls of the youth. It cost him his life, and it is a life we should never forget.
Charlie Kirk was our hero, and it is high time we treat him as such.
