KENNY CODY: Trump’s war on Venezuela’s cartels will crush narco-terror and protect American sovereignty

If Maduro and his thugs continue to contribute to the erosion of our homeland, they will be dealt with appropriately by any means the Trump Administration deems necessary.

The Trump Administration has made it a priority to protect American citizens from the threat of illegal immigration and mass migration into the United States of America. Whether it be from heightening border security that has resulted in no crossings in months, ICE (US Immigration and Customs Enforcement) operations that continue the most effective mass deportation effort in American history, or a vast decrease in immigrant employment for jobs within our nation, President Trump has kept America first in effort and messaging.

Our homeland's sovereignty, security, and sanctity have been preserved. Still, an expansion of this mindset has continued to stretch into every aspect of American life, and that includes a war on the narco-state that is infiltrating our country. We have not only to continue to capitalize on the efforts of Trump's Departments of State, Defense, and Homeland Security, but also provide targeted action against the drug cartels and countries, like Venezuela, that attempt to stand in the way of peace.

Under President Nicolás Maduro Moros's leadership, Venezuela has turned into one of the worst countries on the planet. He has allowed crime, corruption, and hostile takeovers of the government and businesses within the country to ruin its public safety duty to its citizens and any country that has any involvement with them. Maduro's alleged involvement in making his country a narco-state with ties to terrorism and cartels, such as Tren de Aragua and Cartel of the Suns, has shown his alliance with himself and the world of drug crime over the people of his own country.

If this were solely about Venezuela, that would be one thing. However, the significant and dangerous impact that the country has now had on the United States of America calls for action by our government and its people. The cartel's effect on the American people has been devastating. The DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) determined that there have been over one hundred thousand deaths per year as a result of fentanyl overdoses in the United States. This drug is rampantly killing our citizens, and the cartels' role in both drug and human trafficking poses a threat to national security and is an assault on our country's national sovereignty.

The opportunity for bold action against the cartel, drugs in general, and the corrupt narco-state leadership under Maduro has already been sought after by President Trump. Trump's first step in targeting the cartels was through Executive Order 14157, which formally initiated the process to designate international cartels as terrorist organizations, which would set in action further steps to impose military action.

The United States has already sent naval destroyers and military personnel to the Caribbean aimed at narco-state terrorist organizations. Additionally, President Trump's Department of State and Defense announced they would be offering a $50 million reward to the public for any information that would lead to the arrest of President Maduro.

These two decisive actions have initiated a response from the Trump Administration countering the exact causes of many American deaths, and the continued resistance to come to a peaceful governance in Latin America through Maduro's leadership and collaboration with terrorist organizations and the cartel. In response, Venezuela has mobilized its military to combat the American presence in the waters surrounding the country. It seems as if the two nations are at a standstill; however, as always with foreign relations with other foreign entities under President Donald Trump, the United States has the high ground. If not for any other purpose, Trump and his administration are prioritizing American sanctity in preventing further death and evil from countries in Latin America, such as Venezuela. They will continue to take more decisive action in the years to come.

We now have to take even further action along with this plan. Whether it be regional alliances, precision strikes, or intelligence operations that will provide our Department of Defence the ability to combat the evils of the cartel, the United States should take whatever action it can to end the exploitation of the evils of the drug cartel by the Venezuelan government led by Maduro. This is not a foreign entanglement of a needless civil war of some third-world country, but instead, a direct threat with impacts that are killing the American people annually.

The military and aggressive 'peace through strength' diplomacy of the Trump Administration has already set the roadmap of what will happen to Venezuela and any other Latin American country that dares to threaten the American spirit and way of life.

If Maduro and his thugs continue to contribute to the erosion of our homeland, they will be dealt with appropriately by any means the Trump Administration deems necessary. Whatever our government takes would not contain enough aggression for the destruction that the drug cartels have helped cause in our nation's people.
