After just five weeks of operation, CNN+ will shut down on April 30th.

The decision, made known to hundreds of staffers on Thursday, was reportedly made by the new management at CNN following a merger between parent company WarnerMedia and Discover , Just the News reports

David Zaslav, the chief executive of Warner Bros. Discovery, envisions all of the company’s brands eventually existing under one streaming service.

CNN+, which the network spent a reported $300 million to launch, was initially celebrated by company executives as the most significant launch since Ted Turner founded the brand in 1980.

Several high-profile journalists, including former Fox News host Chris Wallace, were given significant contracts to join.
