Tesla's CEO will no longer join Twitter’s board of directors after having purchased a 9.2 percent stake in the Big Tech platform.
Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal announced Sunday that Musk, the platform’s largest shareholder, decided not to join the board, a message he shared with the board on Saturday.
“I believe this is for the best,” Agrawal wrote. “We have and will always value input from our shareholders whether they are on our Board or not. Elon is our biggest shareholder and we will remain open to his output.”
“The decisions we make and how we execute is in our hands, no one else’s,” Agrawal continued. “Let’s tune out the noise, and stay focused on the work and what we’re building.”
Prior to the announcement, Musk tweeted a poll that read: “Convert Twitter SF HQ to homeless shelter since no one show up anyway[?]” More than 1.5 million people responded to the poll, with 91% casting a “yes” vote.
The poll has since been deleted.
He did keep up one tweet suggesting that Twitter is dying.
