A three-year-old with developmental speech delays was kicked out of his speech therapy class for not wearing a mask.

The New Jersey child was told by his speech therapist that if he wants help speaking, he must wear a mask.

“For speech therapy for a toddler, masking isn’t exactly what you should be doing, at least in my opinion,” the mother told Fox News, per BizPacReview. “It’s against what you’re trying to accomplish.”

“It’s like if a dentist required the patient to wear a mask, right?” she asked. “I think for speech therapy for a child, it’s the same thing.”

The mother said her son’s therapy sessions began right around the same time as the pandemic did, and that at the time, he was attending without a mask. However, when the New Jersey mask mandate went into place, he was told to mask up.

“All patients, they told me, had to begin wearing masks in order to receive treatment,” the mother said.

After taking her case to the owner of the practice’s firm, the answer remained the same - no mask, no speech therapy.

“If you don’t put a mask on him,” the mother was told, “we can’t provide services anymore.”

“They kicked us out,” she said.

“I have put a mask on my child in other situations when I’ve had to,” she continued, “but not for speech therapy for a three-year-old.”

After much argument, the mom eventually won the battle, and her son is now receiving the treatment he needs without a mask to deter his progress.

“I’m not a person who complains about things for the sake of complaining,” the mom said. “But I had to stand up for my son in this situation. It didn’t make sense to me.”

In a previous piece by Human Events News, Dr. Mark McDonald, the California-based psychiatrist and best-selling author of "United States of Fear," shared that he recently notified the parents of child patients that he will no longer tolerate their arbitrary masking, indicating the practice as being abusive.

"Parents who mask their children are abusing their children," he said. "They are doing it for a variety of reasons, though. Some parents are political ideologues and will sacrifice everything—even the well-being of their children—to thumb their nose at the 'other side.' Others are brainwashed and continue to believe that their children are only 'safe' when their faces are covered."
