The Republican National Committee on Friday voted formally to censure Reps. Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Knzinger over their criticism of President Trump and participation in the House January 6th Inquisition.

As previously reported by Human Events News, the Wyoming Republican Party in November voted 31 to 29 to no longer recognize Rep. Liz Cheney as a member of the party.

That was the second formal denouncement of Cheney for her criticism of President Trump. In February of 2021, Cheney was censured by the state GOP central committee for voting to impeach Trump. In May, she was stripped of her House Republican leadership role over her consistent criticism of Trump. She responded: “I will do everything I can to ensure that the former president never again gets anywhere near the Oval Office.”

Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, on the other hand, announced in October that after 12 years in office, he will not seek reelection next year.

Kinzinger made the announcement in a video, saying he was told by supporters back in 2010 to “be [his] own man and never ‘do what they tell you to do.’”

“I stand tall and proud knowing that I have done just that,” he said. “I also remember during the campaign saying that if I ever thought it was time to move on from Congress, I would. And that time is now.”

The censure resolution passed overwhelmingly on a voice vote with no debate or discussion. It said the behavior of Cheney and Kinzinger “has been destructive to the institution of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Republican Party and our republic.”
