Rep. Jeff Flake (R.-Ariz.) has spotted a pork project tucked into the Energy and Water appropriations bill (H.R. 2419) for fiscal year 2006.
And he has decided to highlight the project as this week's egregious earmark: $1,000,000 for Ultra Dense Memory Storage for Supercomputing in Colorado.
Of the earmark, Flake said: “Congress must be ultra-dense if they think voters won't retain memory of their fiscal irresponsibility.”
The bill passed the House on a near party-line vote, 209-189, on November 9, 2005. It then breezed through the Senate, 84-4, five days later and was signed into law by President Bush on November 19, 2005.
