Chicago’s police superintendent said that progressive policies are the reason for the city’s uptick in crime.

“We are arresting violent offenders, the courts are releasing these people back into the community,” Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown said Monday, blaming lax progressive crime policies, per Just the News.

Indeed, the city has seen a massive spike in crime, with 70 people being shot and 12 killed over the weekend.

Brown said the city needs to “challenge the courts to render Chicago safe” by “holding offenders in jail longer, not releasing murderers back into our community.”

Approximately 3,400 accused criminals in Cook County have been released into the community via electronic monitoring, an alternative to bail and a progressive-hailed policy.
