Posobiec said Americans understandably want to know when their daily lives will improve, pointing to gas and grocery prices before laying out what he called a geopolitical explanation for the problems facing the country.
“America was founded as a sovereign nation state, not a global empire.” Posobiec urged viewers to read the nation’s founding documents, arguing that the Declaration of Independence and Constitution focus on the interests and needs of the American nation rather than a broader concept of global governance.
“Go look at the Constitution and read what it says. It talks about a nation, it talks about the needs of the nation, and putting the national good first, the national interest.”
He then pointed to former President George Washington’s farewell address as an example of the foreign policy he believes the country was originally designed to follow. “The great rule of conduct for us in regards to foreign nations is in extending our commercial relations to have with them as little political connection as possible.”
“It is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world.”
He continued by discussing American continental expansion and Manifest Destiny, arguing that the concept should be understood through the interests of the American nation rather than as a justification for global conquest. “What I'm talking about is that our nation, which is our people, remember, a nation is its people and the place where they live. Our nation is our home. America is our home.”
Posobiec said American military and national security policy should therefore prioritize protecting the United States and serving its economic interests.
He pointed to control of the Mississippi River and the construction of the Panama Canal as examples of strategic projects undertaken for American economic and national interests. “We did these things as Americans for the good of our nation, for our economic good, and for our national good. But somewhere along the way, we decided after World War II to inherit the British Empire, to try and become a global empire, and look at where it's got us. That's why it's all about nationalism versus globalism.”
