The suspect in the murder of Reform UK spokeswoman Ann Widdecombe had clippings about Nigel Farage and the Reform UK party pinned on the walls of his home. Widdecombe was found dead in her home on July 9 and police said that she was battered to death.

Joshua Kerry, 28, of Rotheram, was detained by police on the suspicion of killing the 78-year-old former Conservative MP, had lived in the home on his own after his father died last year. The Sun reported that after the clippings and other items were found, the counter-terrorism unit took control of the case and the investigation into Widdecombe's murder.

One source told the outlet, “The articles on the walls were all about Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, his party and their immigration policies. Other discoveries saw Counter Terrorism officers take overall charge of the police investigation.”

"It would appear he had a profound dislike of the party, its leader and its policies,” the source added in comments to the paper. The Devon and Cornwall Police had originally determined that there was no evidence that the killing had a policial motive.

Footage believed to show Kerry sees him leaving his home a little before 8 am on July 8 with a long object in his pocket. He did not come home until 6 pm later that day. Sources that spoke to The Sun said that the police discovered the newspaper clippings when searching his home during his arrest.

Police believe the murder took place in the afternoon of July 8 around 12:30 pm. Police believe the Kerry completed a 540-mile round trip from his home to her residence in Dartmoor.

Kerry was taken into custody on Saturday July 11 after police went through his home. Neighbor Rayed Astle, 26, said that Kerry has barely spoken to anyone after his father die around a year ago, per the Daily Mail.

“He was someone you'd have a conversation with but that changed after his dad died. He became very quiet. He kept himself to himself and wouldn't really speak to anyone,” Astle said.
