Posobiec noted that political violence and censorship are being used to silence opposition voices. “We can't allow this political leftist violence to come up against us,” Posobiec said, adding that some “choose violence and they choose censorship rather than allowing for free debate.”
Simion responded by praising what he described as actions taken by the current US administration to defend free speech. “I must admire the efforts that the current administration is doing to fight against censorship for the freedom of speech,” Simion said, referencing Under Secretary of State Sarah Rogers, Secretary Mark Rubio, and a House Judiciary Committee report on the DSA.
Simion claimed the report had “an important impact in the Romanian society and in the European society.” He urged continued US involvement in countering censorship efforts “across the free world.”
Speaking about Romania’s 2024 election, Simion alleged outside interference. He said Călin Georgescu “should have been the president,” but claimed that “Anthony Blinken, Emmanuel Macron and other bad people who were in charge in 2024 decided to have a puppet president in Romania.”
Simion also addressed debate within the European Union over regulating social media platforms. “Now in the European Union, there is a huge debate that we should censor the social networks in order to protect our children,” he said. “OK, we all agree we should protect our children, but censorship is not the way.”
