The State Department issued a cable, viewed by the Wall Street Journal, that read "Embassy Riyadh has been struck by two UAVs that hit the roof and perimeter of the chancery. Post is sheltering in place and reported no injuries."
Chief Saudi Correspondent for Reuters Timour Azhari reported on X that there was a "fire at US Embassy in Riyadh after blast, two sources say."
Fox News reports that the building was empty. "The US Embassy in Riyadh was empty at the time of the Iranian drone strike, no injuries, official tells Fox," reported Jennifer Griffin. She also said that "A third drone is en route to US Embassy in Riyadh as we speak, according to official source."
Agence France-Presse reported a resident of Riyadh saying "I heard two explosions followed by smoke rising over the quarter."
Earlier on Monday, the US State Department urged Americans in several mid-east countries, including Saudi Arabia, to leave the region via commercial means. Those nations include Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.
Following the US and Israeli attack on Iran, gunmen and protesters attacked the US Embassy in Karachi, Pakistan, but were rebuffed by Marines stationed there, who killed at least 10 people who attempted to gain unlawful entry to the Embassy.
Iran has been lashing out at neighboring nations, including Qatar and Saudi Arabia. President Trump said that the entirety of the Iranian command structure was wiped out.
