JACK POSOBIEC: Trump isn’t planning a war—he’s planning deals

Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec opened Thursday’s episode by discussing a major shakeup in President Donald Trump’s security team, pointing to the creation of new roles and a significant strategic pivot.

“President Donald Trump is changing up his security team with a new position opening up for the national security advisor and the deputy to the national security advisor,” Posobiec said, noting that many will remember General Mike Flynn served as Trump’s first national security advisor back in 2017.

But this time, according to Posobiec, the focus isn’t on war or military escalation—it’s about a strategic framework rooted in dealmaking.

“From what I’m hearing as of this point, what the intention here is is to bring forward the Steve Witkoff, Scott Bessent plan. For the Trump agenda writ large—deals, negotiations, grand strategy, leverage. Not military attacks or new and open warfare, not bombing runs or starting new wars, not backing proxy forces like we’ve done so many times that get us entrenched deeper and deeper into these foreign policy disasters.”

Instead, Posobiec suggested the president may be leaning on outsiders with business instincts rather than bureaucratic experience.

“Perhaps even leaning on someone like a Steve Witkoff, who doesn’t have a background in government or in the administrative state. What he has is a background in diplomacy and to the president and the president’s wishes. This is something that a lot of people in Washington, DC don’t seem to understand.”

Posobiec described Witkoff as someone uniquely aligned with the president’s priorities.

“Steve Witkoff is championing the president’s agenda, which is the agenda that the American people voted for in November. He won the popular vote and seven out of seven of the swing states. Democrats, especially some union members I found out, don’t like it when you bring that up. But it’s true—the American people did not vote for war.”
