Human Events Opinion Editor Kenny Cody discussed his recent article, "MAGA Should Embrace the Brutal American Label," with Human Events Daily host Jack Posobiec during Monday's edition, explaining why he believes the title should be seen as a badge of honor.

Cody argued that the left’s attempts to paint the MAGA movement as harsh and unfeeling only make it more appealing.

“I think the left, the more they try and make us look evil and the more they try to make us look like we're these uncaring beings, the cooler they make us look,” Cody said. “I think that this attitude is exactly what they want the MAGA movement to be. We want to be these fighters, these people that are going against cultural Marxism, progressivism." He said that under the Bush and Obama administrations, "We were always this neocon, neoliberals that were kowtowing to a global government or kowtowing to a globalist movement. And I think now that we have this America First concentration, we're able to be brutal Americans because we're America First. Europeans should see us as brutal, as tough negotiators... We are people that are going to dictate policy,” he added, emphasizing that America must put workers before corporations and globalism.

Cody went on to say that America’s shift in priorities isn’t about being less charitable, but about standing firm.

“I think you’re finally seeing the right kind of policy that is putting American citizens before anything else. That’s what brutal means to the Europeans. This Anne Applebaum piece about her European travels, like we changed… we used to be so caring and so charitable, and now we’re not. That’s not it, it’s not that we aren’t nice people. It’s that we aren’t going to be run over anymore,” he explained.

“We're not going to kowtow to the United Nations, and we're certainly not going to kowtow the presidents or prime ministers of countries that could care less about us and give no benefits to us. All that ‘Brutal American’ means is brutally honest and brutally reliant and loyal to the American people. We’re going to fight these battles brutally.”

Posobiec agreed, saying this transition won’t be easy for everyone to accept.

“Let’s be clear. This is going to be one of those things where you can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs,” Posobiec said. “I see The Daily Mail is coming out there, Senator Rand Paul has come out in opposition to the tariffs, a number of other people have come out against the tariffs on the MAGA side of the aisle. Understand that we, and what President Trump is doing and what we're talking about that we support through Human Events. is this idea of restructuring the global order, where yes, it’s not going to be GDP first. It’s actually going to be people first. The people that we’re putting first are the American people and the American worker.”

Posobiec added that President Trump is creating the next greatest generation in Gen Z and Gen Alpha. “We honor our past, we honor our heritage, but at the same time, we actually have to deliver for the future… It’s about restoring American economic prosperity,” Posobiec said, noting that this would be achieved through strength, ending foreign wars that bankrupt the US, and through strong trade deals.
