"If you look at the trends of the outgoing US administration, they are fully committed to continuing the war in Ukraine and are doing everything they can to do so," Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday.
Trump, who will be inaugurated on January 20, repeatedly criticized US support for Ukraine during his campaign and asserted that he could achieve a ceasefire within hours. Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, told Fox News on Tuesday that Ukraine would lose the war if Washington withdrew its funding.
In order to mitigate the threat to civilians, the United States has requested that Ukraine restrict the use of mines to its own territory and to areas that are devoid of population. This is the latest weapons shipment announced by the US since the Nov. 5 election.
The Kremlin also denied on Wednesday that it was involved in the cutting of telecommunications cables that ran beneath the Baltic Sea. European officials conveyed their suspicion on Tuesday that the invasion of Ukraine by Russia is associated with the "hybrid warfare" and "sabotage" that occurred as a result of the cutting of two telecommunications cables in the Baltic Sea within 48 hours. Peskov told reporters: "It's quite absurd to keep blaming Russia for everything without any grounds. It is laughable in the context of the lack of any reaction to Ukraine's sabotage activities in the Baltic Sea."
