AUSTIN PETERSEN: 2024 could be a year of gangbuster success for the Right

Happy New Year everyone! Or is it New Years? Oh who cares. At least the war on Christmas is delayed another year. 2023 entered with Trump as the Democrats’ sacrificial lamb on the altar of democracy, and left with the lion of Argentina, the libertarian Javier Milei taking office. What a year it was! I’d say it was actually a great year, and I think 2024 will be even better.

It’s become a meme that every year since Covid 2020 that things have been getting worse and worse. But that’s not true. Yes we lost the delightfully entertaining George Santos, and the federal charges Trump has been brought up on have been draining his funds and attention. It’s been sad to see Ron DeSantis lose so much of his luster, as his campaign has been… well… lackluster. It will be good to see him go back to being a great governor, and stop seeing him and his backers humiliate themselves. Haley supporters can continue to humiliate themselves as long as they like, all five of them.

Things have actually been improving on many fronts, and the conservative movement is notching some big victories. We may be even ready to retake the White House and the House if we play our cards right. ESG initiatives are being defunded to the tune of $14 billion. Of course, companies that were doing it were less profitable, so it was inevitable. Nancy Pelosi had a great 2023 in the stock market, notching 65% gains. Wowza! I plan on making 2024 great by investing in whatever she invests in. Maybe we’ll get a bill to stop people like her and Congressman Dan Crenshaw from trading individual stocks?

Kevin McCarthy didn’t do his job and got ejected by Matt Gaetz, which was a pure delight to watch. Vivek Ramaswamy entered the national scene with breakout debate performances that saw him achieving cult status among the MAGA base and even notoriously hard to please liberty Republicans like myself. We’ll follow his career with great interest!

Biden’s poll numbers hit historic lows, and no president has ever been reelected with those approval ratings. Biden is also losing in key battlefield states he won last time. This is good news, and we should ask ourselves what’s driving this? Inflation? The persecution of Trump? Biden’s shadowy presidency, where no one knows who’s actually calling the shots? Robert F. Kennedy Jr. polling double digits? All of the above? Well… maybe. As it turns out, the multi-racial coalition that Biden put together may be fraying.

A new USA Today/Suffolk University Poll shows that Biden’s support from black voters is 63%. Sounds high right? Well it was 87% in 2020. Hispanic voters have also mildly swung to Trump 39% to 34% which is nice but… in 2020 it was 65% Biden to 32% Trump. Well, well, well how the turntables.

Immigration pressures from his own party are forcing Biden’s hand. It would be bad enough for Biden that NYC Mayor Eric Adams called out the administration for not doing enough. That the Biden team could handle with a little roughing up on the street. But now Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is adding fuel to the fire, whining about Texas Governor Gregg Abbot bussing illegals to his city, and facing angry residents who are telling him to take it up with his pal Joe.

2024 could bring all sorts of wonderful things for the right. We just have to avoid doing what we tend to do best: snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
