A woman in Paris was allegedly screaming “Allahu Akbar” and making threats to blow up the train she was on Tuesday, Mirror UK reports. The police subsequently opened fire at her, allegedly injuring her stomach.

The 38-year-old woman who has not been named was dressed in an Islamic veil and was threatening to “blow herself up” with the train, a source reports. Armed officers arrived at the scene near Bibliothèque François-Mitterrand station after a terrified passenger called emergency services.

They opened fire after the woman would not comply with their warnings and is said to have shouted “Allahu Akbar.”

The source said that “Fearing for their safety, the police opened fire around 9:20 am She was then injured in the stomach and evacuated immediately.” Police have since said officers made the right decision to "neutralise the woman".

The nearby Metro and suburban train station that services the Bibliothèque François-Mitterrand station have been evacuated, according to local police. Authorities said the station would not reopen until 4 pm. Paris police said that no explosives were found on the woman, the train, or the station.

France has been on heightened anti-terror alert after just earlier this month a man shouting "Allahu akbar" at Gambetta High School in the city of Arras stabbed a teacher to death and left several other people injured on Friday, October 13, the day that the former leader of Hamas called for a “Day of Jihad.”
