Two Swedish tourists were shot dead in Brussels, Belgium by a gunman screaming "Allahu Akbar" according to local reports.

Federal prosecutors in Belgium have announced they would be treating the shooting as terrorism and opened a probe.

The tourists were allegedly in town for a Euro 2024 football (soccer) match.

The suspect was wearing an orange jacket and reportedly dismounted from a scooter before he began firing from what looked to be an automatic Kalashnikov-type rifle. He fled the scene and is currently at large.

Someone then posted a video to social media in Arabic saying he was the gunman who carried out the attack in the name of Allah and claimed he killed three "infidels." Police have not been able to verify if the man in the video was in fact the shooter.
