Mohamed Mohouchkov, 19, allegedly murdered Dominique Bernard while shouting "Allahu Akbar." At least two others were wounded during the spree of violence.
According to the Daily Mail, the attack took place around 11 am at Gambetta high school in Arras, a town an hour south of Lille in the northern part of the country.
Footage of the moment that preceeded Bernard's death showed Mohouchkov threatening a group of people, one of whom tried to defend himself with a chair.
When he fell, Bernard grabbed the shield and threw it at Mohouchkov, but tripped during the process. The 19-year-old then to kicked, punched, and stabbed him while he's down.
Bernard managed to get up, but stumbled when he tried to run away and fell to the ground.
Authorities quickly arrived on scene and were told that someone had been attacked with a knife. According to officer Sliman Hamzi, first responders tried their best to save Bernard, but to no avail. He was declared dead.
Police secured the area, and apprehended the suspect. Mohouchkov was promptly taken into custody, where France's anti-terror prosecutor's office opened an investigation for "murder in connection with a terrorist enterprise" and "attempted murder in connection with a terrorist enterprise."
Both Mohouchkov and his brother, who was previously charged with distributing ISIS propaganda and was also detained following the incident, are on France's national security watchlist and known terrorist sympathizers.
Earlier this week, former Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal called for a day of Jihad on Friday in response to Israel's retaliation for the Iranian-backed Palestinian terrorist organization's massacre of civilians in Israel.
Authorities have not yet found any evidence that Mohouchkov's actions were a direct result of Meshaal's comments, though they are looking into all possible motives.
