Human Events’ Brent Hamachek appeared on Newsmax today to preview tonight’s Human Events and Liberty Forum Victims of Communism panel.

When asked why now, here’s what Hamachek had to say.

“The reason why now is unrelated to what’s happening in Ukraine because this was planned a bit of time ago but the real motivation for this is that increasingly here in the United States over the last few years, people who believe in individual liberty and the value of the Constitution, we’ve kind of found ourselves more and more having our rights suppressed and being treated almost as if we’re political criminals,” he said.

“The idea was to take people who really did live life that way and to bring them together and share the stories they have about life under totalitarianism and so, by sharing the experience, they’ll also share warnings for Americans today because the members of our panel have some real concerns about what they’ve seen going on in the United States for the last x number of years…we need to be vigilant if we want to protect our freedoms,” he continued.

The event will be held at the Elite Event Center, 2670 El Camino Real, Santa Clara, CA 95051. Registration to attend the event either in person or via livestream can be made by visiting the Liberty Forum of Silicon Valley website.
