Amid an ongoing Russian attack on Ukraine, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency warned airlines to avoid flying over the area.

The agency cautioned airline operators flying in airspace within 100 nautical of the Belarus-Ukraine and Russia-Ukraine borders to exercise “extreme caution,” per Fox News.

Flight radar maps show that the airspace over Ukraine is largely cleared after Russia began its invasion via land, air and sea.

Additionally, Ukrainian authorities closed airports in the eastern part of the country overnight.

Ukraine’s airspace surrounding the area is completely empty, as shown by FlightAware, per Just the News. Planes are actively avoiding the area.

The Russian government issued a notice to airmen stating that the airspace is closed to all civilian flights.

The government issued a “temporarily danger area” warning early Thursday morning.
