CNN suspended Chris Cuomo indefinitely Tuesday after new details emerged about his involvement in the strategy to deflect Gov. Cuomo’s sexual assault scandal.
Chris Cuomo had previously apologized for advising his brother’s senior political aides, but evidence released Monday by New York Attorney General Letitia James revealed his role was much deeper than previously known.
“The documents, which we were not privy to before their public release, raise serious questions,” CNN said in a statement Tuesday, per the New York Times. “When Chris admitted to us that he had offered advice to his brother’s staff, he broke our rules and we acknowledged that publicly. But we also appreciated the unique position he was in and understood his need to put family first and job second. However, these documents point to a greater level of involvement in his brother’s efforts than we previously knew.”
“As a result, we have suspended Chris indefinitely, pending further evaluation,” the network continued.
As previously reported by Human Events News, thousands of pages of evidence released Monday show the extent of Chris Cuomo’s involvement in Gov. Cuomo’s strategy to deflect his sexual harassment charges.
Starting last December, the records reveal in detail how the tight-knit group of Cuomo advisers, including Chris Cuomo, discussed a series of steps to manipulate the press, discredit his accusers and maintain power.
Chris Cuomo sought to take on a greater role in his brother’s defense, including phoning into phone calls discussing strategy.
