In order for nursing homes to receive Medicare and Medicaid funding, the Biden administration will require staffers to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Biden is set to officially announce the chance Wednesday afternoon, according to Just the News, and will direct the Department of Health and Human Services to draft new regulations making vaccines a condition for participation in the medical programs.

“As we see the spread of Delta and the thread of Covid cases, it is really especially important that we ensure that those caring for our most vulnerable are vaccinated,” Carole Johnson, a senior White House official, said.

The new regulations could go into effect as early as next month.
