It seems like Prince Andrew has found himself in anything but a fairytale, as his accuser’s lawyer warned he risks “default judgement” if he ignores the case brought against him in the U.S.
David Boies, the lawyer representing Virginia Giuffre, said he and his client have tried everything to resolve the matter. As previously reported by Human Events News, Giuffre accused the British royal of sexually abusing her when she was at the ripe age of 17.
Boies said people “ignore the courts at your peril,” adding: “It would be very ill-advised for Prince Andrew to ignore [the] judicial process.”
“If he does,” he told BBC, “it will be a default judgement against him that will be, in effect, enforced not only in the United States, but in virtually every civilized country in the world.”
Boies relayed a message for his client: “You cannot hide behind wealth and power and palace walls.”
In another interview with Channel 4 News, per The Guardian, he said his client’s hope is that “calling the rich and powerful abusers to account will have some effect on reducing the chance that other young girls will suffer what she suffered.”
“The evidence in terms of what [Andrew] knew about Jeffrey Epstein’s sex-trafficking operation is something that obviously will be for the jury to decide,” he continued. “I think that everybody who was closely associated with Jeffrey Epstein knew that he had these young girls, these young women who he was trafficking.”
