Biden is expected to announce Thursday a plan to require federal employees to receive the vaccine, or be subject to regular COVID-19 testing.
According to a person familiar with the discussions, per the Wall Street Journal, no decision has been finalized, and the policy is still under review. The administration is also considering stronger mask guidelines for unvaccinated federal employees.
Biden said Tuesday that he plans to lay out a plan to get more Americans vaccinated.
This comes after the CDC released new mask guidance, recommending vaccinated individuals to start wearing masks indoors again. Additionally, schools should require students to wear masks, even if they are vaccinated.
As previously reported by Human Events News, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday that all state employees must be vaccinated or get tested weekly.
“It’s smart, it’s fair and it’s in everyone’s interest,” Cuomo said during a virtual news conference Wednesday. “I think we need dramatic action to get control of this situation. So in New York, and in our state hospitals, all patient-facing health care workers must get vaccinated. There will be no testing option for patient-facing health care workers.”
California announced similar requirements for public workers on Monday.
