The platform committee will present the 2012 GOP Convention with a document that calls for the Congress to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, said Rep. Marsha W. Blackburn (R-Tenn.), one of the three co-chairs of the committee.

The platform was scheduled to be released Monday, but it was pushed back along with other convention items due to Tropical Storm Isaac. It is expected to be released Tuesday at gopplatform2012.com. Human Events will have a full analysis, shortly after it???s published.

The platform will also support health care reforms designed to increase competition, but the committee did not drill down into specific policies, she said.

Among the innovations the platform will include language sympathetic to reforms such as opening up health care insurance competition across state lines, she said.

???We focused on five things,??? she said. ???No. 1 one is to have more choice and options. No. 2 would be to decrease cost and mandates,??? she said. ???The third thing would be to simplify system and the fourth is to restore all the cuts that were made to Medicare,??? she said.

Restoring those cuts is a high priority, she said. ???It came through loud and clear from the platform delegates.???

The fifth goal would be to make healthcare tax-free, she said.
