Apparently Chelsea Clinton was embarrassed by her mother recently saying that young people nowadays "think work is a four-letter word" and that they feel entitled to high-paying jobs immediately out of college.

Chelsea was undoubtedly mortified that Mrs. Clinton would say such a thing, especially considering the presidential daughter landed a high-paying job right after getting her master's degree. She complained to the senator, "Mom, I do work hard and my friends work hard."

Surely the last thing young Chelsea wants is to have her career scrutinized, when she is normally used to just being in the papers because of who she's dating. Hillary used the occasion of a commencement address at Long Island University to apologize to her daughter and to slackers everywhere. "I said, 'I'm sorry, I didn't mean to convey the impression that you don't work hard. I just want to set the bar high, because we are in a competition for the future."
