Not that you’ve been sitting on the edge of your seat waiting to hear my opinion on this, but  I am officially joining my conservative brethren in support of Rep. John Shadegg (R-AZ) for Majority Leader.

Unlike some other bloggers (who have taken the defensive position that Shadegg should be supported because he is not tainted by Abramoff/lobbyist connections) my endorsement of Shadegg is based solely on my belief that he is, indeed, the most trusted conservative in the race.

Conservatives – and in particular, conservative bloggers – have an historic opportunity to influence the direction of the Republican Party.

With power and influence also comes responsibility.  In support of Shadegg, conservative bloggers should also avoid engaging in divisive rhetoric.  Let us not follow the example of liberal bloggers who, in support of Howard Dean’s campaign for DNC Chairman, said of their party:  “We bought it, we own it, and we're going to take it back.”
