One day after voting Sen. Teddy Kennedy (D.-Mass.) the "biggest windbag" at Samuel Alito's confirmation hearings, readers of AlitoBlog.com returned him to the top spot in a poll about the "dumbest question" asked of Alito.

Kennedy's question about presidential power narrowly defeated Sen. Chuck Schumer's (D.-N.Y.) question about abortion.

Here's what you picked as the "dumbest" question: "Why should we believe that you’ll act as an independent check on the president when he claims the power to ignore the laws passed by Congress?"

Kennedy's question garnered 39.4% of the vote, followed by Schumer's rant on abortion, which had 29.4%.

Placing third and fourth were Judiciary Chairman Arlen Specter (R.-Pa.), who asked if the Constitution was a "living thing," followed by Sen. Patrick Leahy (Vt.), the committee's ranking Democrat, who wondered - "in heaven's name" - why Alito would be part of Concerned Alumni of Princeton.

Specter's question finished with 14.2% and Leahy ended with 13.7%.

Finishing in last place - for a second straight day - was Sen. Herb Kohl (D.-Wis.), who had 3.2% for his question about Alito's admiration for Robert Bork.

The poll had 401 respondents. It asked: "Which liberal asked the dumbest question at Tuesday's hearing for Samuel Alito?"

Today's poll is now open. It asks, "Judge Samuel Alito has now endured two rounds of questioning. How would you rate his performance?"
