Before beginning his opening statement, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R.-Iowa) turned toward Sen. Teddy Kennedy (D.-Mass.), who spoke right before him, and said: "I have a much more positive view ... and I think the record will sustain my view."

Grassley isn't thought of as one who would normally engage in combat with a liberal windbag such as Kennedy. The fact that he wasn't afraid to jab his colleague shows that even mild-mannered Republicans won't stand for Democrats' attacks.
