The conservative activist group Progress for America today announced an 18-state barnstorming tour that it hopes will rally Americans behind Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito, whose confirmation hearings start January 9.

A bipartisan assortment of Alito supporters will be visiting the 18 states selected by Progress for America as key battlegrounds.

The states include:

  1. Arkansas
  2. Colorado
  3. Florida
  4. Iowa
  5. Louisiana
  6. Michigan
  7. Montana
  8. Nebraska
  9. Nevada
  10. New Hampshire
  11. North Dakota
  12. Ohio
  13. Oregon
  14. Pennsylvania
  15. Rhode Island
  16. South Dakota
  17. Virginia
  18. West Virginia

Progress for America is financing the tour and a website JudgeAlito.com in an effort to counter what it characterizes as a liberal misinformation campaign.

“Unfortunately, liberal special interest groups are escalating their smear campaign against Judge Alito daily,” according to a e-mail sent to supporters Monday. “We need your help to counter these liberal extremists.”

Conservatives are encouraged to visit JudgeAlito.com/action to learn what they can do to get involved.
