A new poll of Montana voters shows that 45% support the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito. Only 17% said they opposed his confirmation and another 38% were undecided.

The numbers aren’t as hearty as those of a Washington Post-ABC News poll released last week. In that poll, 54% supported Alito’s confirmation.

The Montana poll was conducted earlier this month by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research Inc. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

According to the Billings Gazette, “Montana men were heartier in their support of Alito than were women. Some 51 percent of men said they support the judge's confirmation, compared with 19 percent opposed and 30 percent undecided. Thirty-nine percent of Montana women said they supported Alito, compared to 15 percent against and 46 percent undecided.”
