Graduated from Indiana University, School of Law with his doctorate in jurisprudence
1988:
Made first run for Congress
1991:
Named president of the Indiana Policy Review Foundation, a conservative state think tank
1992:
Began radio broadcasting career with the “Mike Pence Show,” which eventually was syndicated statewide on 18 Indiana radio stations
2000:
First elected to Congress
2003 & 2004:
Visited American troops and Iraqi citizens in Iraq
2004:
Unanimously elected chairman of the Republican Study Committee in September
2004:
Led congressional delegation visit to Afghanistan and Pakistan in December to meet with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and to visit American troops at Camp Phoenix
2005:
Described by the Washington Post as “A New Face on Conservatism” in March

Made third trip to Iraq over Labor Day
