With all the woe surrounding the GOP, Republican congressmen are telling each other how lucky they are that the Democratic leader in the House is shrill Nancy Pelosi from California, who seems to think most Americans are San Francisco leftists and so champions every liberal cause and makes repeated vicious personal attacks on President Bush and other Republicans.
As one California Republican House colleague said to a Human Events editor last week: “Can you image how much more we’d be hurting with the public if the Democratic leader were somebody more reasonable, such as Steny Hoyer [the Democratic whip from Maryland]?”
