Intellectual Property Socialism

A future that includes open source enterprise applications is threatening to German software giant SAP AG, if comments by the President of their Product and Technology Group Shai Agassi are any indication.  He takes a swat at the open source model, comparing it to socialism:

"Intellectual property [IP] socialism is the worst that can happen to any IP-based society," he said. "And we are an IP-based society. If there is no way to protect IP, there is no reason to invest in IP."

He’s clearly quick with a sound bite, also calling Oracle a pirate ship (that Zen thing never really worked for Larry Ellison), but open source isn’t socialism at all unless you want to say Linux and Mozilla are, too.
