The Washington Post ran a front-page story yesterday that turned both conservative and liberal heads. It was headlined: “Alito Signals Reluctance to Overturn Roe v. Wade.”
Senators Joe Lieberman (D.-Conn.) and Susan Collins (R..-Maine) emerged from their individual meetings with Alito, the paper reported, suspecting Alito was not inclined to overturn the decision that legalized abortion nationwide.
“He basically said … that Roe was precedent on which people—a lot of people—relied, and been precedent for decades and therefore deserved great respect,” said Lieberman.
This begs a question: Who is it that relies on Roe that it deserves such respect? Professional abortionists?
