A rioter in France who isn’t angry enough already can find that extra oomph he needs to flip a 2CV in the words of Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy, who called the rioters “scum” and vowed to “clean out the neighborhoods.” Emma-Kate Symons of The Australian finds this ironic, noting that Sarkozy is also campaigning to alter France’s republican model to allow state funding of mosques and imam training. This suggests another irony: When France becomes an Islamic Republic, where will those imams stand on funding churches?
