Bush’s First Veto?

The Senate recently voted 90-to-9 to approve an amendment to the Defense appropriation bill sponsored by Sen. John McCain (R.-Ariz.) that would make the Army Field Manual the standard for interrogation of detainees by U.S. forces and would ban ??¢â???¬?????cruel, inhumane, and degrading treatment of prisoners in the detention of the government.??¢â???¬  The White House is vowing to veto the Defense bill if the final version includes the McCain language. The House version does not.
