The inspector general of the Social Security Administration (SSA) determined the 100 United States employers that compiled the worst records between 1997-2001 for filing W-2 forms that were so inaccurate the SSA could not match them to a known taxpayer.
The SSA was then forced to consign them to what is called the Earnings Suspense File.
The inspector general did not name these worst filers.
However, he did rank them, reveal the state in which each is based, and provide some of their payroll data, including number of bad W-2s and the overall dollar value of the wages they reported on W-2s that could not be matched to taxpayer.
Here are the Top 100 worst filers.
