As Republican leaders were unveiling their agenda Monday, an estimated 100,000 pro-life activists descended on the capital for the March for Life, commemorating the 32nd anniversary of the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion.

On the Senate's 2005 agenda is the Child Custody Protection Act, which makes it a federal offense to transport a minor across state lines in order to avoid the minor's home-state parental notification law. But the prospects for getting the bill through the Senate-it already once passed the House-are shaky. Republican Conference Chairman Rick Santorum (R.-Pa.) told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: "Do we have 60 [supporters needed to defeat a Democratic filibuster blocking a vote]? I don't know. But I think we clearly have a majority."
