DIRECTOR: F. Gary Gray
PRODUCER: Donald De Line
EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS: James R. Dyer, Wendy Japhet, Tim Bevan, and Eric Fellner

GENRE: Crime Thriller/Heist Thriller
INTENDED AUDIENCE: Teenagers and adults

SUMMARY: In The Italian Job, Mark Wahlberg and Charlize Theron star as a criminal mastermind and a young woman who try to steal back some gold from a murderous thief played by Edward Norton. The Italian Job is a remake of the 1969 caper movie starring Michael Caine and Noel Coward. Mark Wahlberg stars as young mastermind Charlie Croker, who engineers the theft of $35 million in gold bullion in Venice, Italy. The only thing he didn’t anticipate was the betrayal by one of his cohorts, Steve, a cocky thief played by Edward Norton. Steve kills Charlie’s mentor and mistakenly thinks he has killed the rest of the gang, including Charlie.

The Italian Job does not have the big thrills necessary for a really entertaining summer blockbuster and carries a pagan worldview that extols revenge, stealing and greed. Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron and Edward Norton do a good job playing the easygoing gang leader, the romantic interest, and the evil betrayer.

CONTENT: Pagan worldview extolling revenge, stealing and greed, with an anti-Christian moment mocking the indwelling of the Holy Spirit; 19 obscenities including one "f" word and three strong profanities; scene of implied fornication and some references to sex; upper male nudity, woman lies under covers in bed as man gets up, and woman in underwear and T-shirt; alcohol use, revenge, theft, stealing, and daughter is disappointed with her criminal father.

JET LAG

RATING: R
STARRING: Juliette Binoche, Jean Reno and Sergi Lopez
DIRECTOR: Daniele Thompson
PRODUCER: Alain Sarde
EXECUTIVE PRODUCER: Christine Gozlan
WRITERS: Christopher Thompson and Daniele Thompson
DISTRIBUTOR: Miramax Films (Buena Vista)
GENRE: Romantic Comedy
INTENDED AUDIENCE: Adults

SUMMARY: Jet Lag is a romantic comedy from France about a talented chef with a nervous condition and a beautician running from a bad marriage who meet during an airport layover and fall in love. Though a little slow and plodding at times, the story has a compelling tenderness, despite strong foul language and nudity.

Jet Lag stars Juliette Binoche and Jean Reno. Binoche and Reno are both terrific actors, but make an odd pairing here. Thousands of people are stuck in Paris’ large airport due to poor weather and a labor strike, but two unlikely characters keep meeting each other. Felix is a talented chef with a nervous condition. Rose is a bold beautician running from a bad marriage. Of course, they have little in common. Of course, they are opposites in many respects. And, of course, they will fall for each other before the amusing closing credits roll.

CONTENT: Strong Romantic worldview about "fate" bringing two lonely people together at a Paris airport, with some capitalist and feminist elements; 17 obscenities (five "f" words), one strong profanity, four exclamations of "My God," and brief scene of woman using a toilet; violence includes man with temper slamming silverware onto a table and some talk of an abusive relationship; couple shown lying on bed together (clothed), brief scenes and audio of a porn channel (with no nudity shown), and references to woman faking sexual arousal; brief upper female nudity of woman lying in bed and brief rear nudity as woman leaves swimming pool; alcohol use.
