LIBBY EMMONS: Dems excommunicate Stevens for ditching El-Sayed—they love power more than principles

The reason why pointing out hypocrisy is pointless is because the principles, positions, and policies are not the issue, power is.

Cancel culture has come for Rep. Haley Stevens because among Democrats and leftists, standing up for your principles and breaking ranks with the Party is the biggest sin. The Party allows for no independent thought and requires all those within it to adhere to the diktats set out by leaders, to close ranks, to ensure that power, not principles, is what rules the day. Stevens just found that out.

The Democrat religion is the sanctity of the Party itself. Over and over, it has been revealed that their positions make no sense. How can you be both "queer" and "for Palestine," where homosexuals are thrown off roofs? How can you be in favor of women's rights and believe that men who pretend to be women should have those same protections set aside for women? How can you claim to support free speech while silencing anyone with whom you disagree? The list goes on. And the reason why pointing out hypocrisy is pointless is because the principles, positions, and policies are not the issue, power is.

Stevens announced on Sunday that she's endorsing Michigan Republican candidate Mike Rogers for the US Senate. Stevens ran against Abdul El-Sayed and on Saturday he said she was no longer welcome at his campaign events after she asked him to condemn antisemitic ads run by Cenk Uyghur in favor of his candidacy. The ad was distinctly anti-Jew.

In response, Democrats lashed out at her for breaking with the Party. A bunch of her staff quit, too. Democrats' main value is sticking together no matter how hateful, antisemitic, and Muslim Brotherhood-linked your candidate is.

"Abdul said that I was no longer welcome in his campaign and that I should stay away," Stevens said in her endorsement announcement. "And he's right, and that's why I am endorsing Mike Rogers for the United States Senate today. I don't belong in Abdul's campaign. I do not stand with Hasan Piker, who gets trafficked on our college campuses."

She spoke about her priorities, education, how much she loves Michigan, and how she's "still a very proud Democrat." She believes in everything she "voted for and said," but for her colleagues in the Democrat Party, none of that matters. The only thing that matters is that she broke ranks.

Chuck Schumer, who pretends to condemn antisemitism while carrying water for the Jew-haters in his party, said of Stevens endorsement: "This is despicable betrayal from Rep. Stevens. Senate Democrats are united in our support for Abdul El-Sayed, because we know he will fight for the economic interests of working families in Michigan, unlike Mike Rogers, who is a tool of Donald Trump and billionaire donors."

Michigan Democrat Party Chair Curtis Hertel excommunicated her from the Party, saying "Congresswoman Stevens is not a current member of the Michigan Democratic Party, nor will she be in the future." It's worth noting that Maine's Graham Platner refused to endorse his replacement after sexual misconduct allegations leveled his campaign, and he was not removed from the Party.

Gavin Newsom stepped out to back the Party, too, saying, "The Republican Party is the party of Donald Trump. A vote for Mike Rogers IS a vote for Trump. I stand with Dr. Abdul El-Sayed."

Washington Dem Rep Pramila Jayapal said Stevens' endorsement was "unforgivable."

Commentator Isaiah Martin said Stevens "should be removed from the House Democratic Caucus tomorrow morning. No tolerance."

Even Stevens' purported friend Susan Wild condemned her, saying "she will be a pariah among her friends in the Democratic Caucus in Congress" and claiming, like all good feminists do eventually, that Stevens' change of heart was because of a man in her life. "If this is because of her new relationship..." Wild said, "all I can say is that any woman who abandons her friends when a new guy comes along is no friend at all."

In 2018, I wrote about transhumanism and transgender ideology for Quillette and 6 months later, the theater community in downtown New York got wind of it. They thought that exploring the ideas behind the concept of changing gender, of claims that mind and body do not match, meant I hated trans people. On social media, people openly disavowed me, said they were no longer friends of mine. Women I'd known for years claimed that my views were being dictated to me by my then-husband. I imagine that, like me with these ideologies, Stevens started asking questions about that which she was being asked to support and didn't like the answers.

It's an ugly thing to tear a woman down for standing up for what she believes in. Stevens has faced El-Sayed, she knows what kind of man she is, she has seen the black community in her state vote for her not him, she knows he has Muslim Brotherhood ties, courts the vote of Islamists who actively seek the downfall of the United States.

Any Democrat worth their salt should step away from El-Sayed. The Democrat Party is so obsessed with obtaining power that they don't care who wields that sword, even though it will come for their necks, too, in the end.
