The United States embassy in Russia has issued a rare warning about a "credible threat" of a "mass casualty" event at a tourist hotspot in Moscow.

“The U.S. Embassy in Moscow is aware of a credible threat of a mass casualty event TODAY October 31, at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve in Moscow at DolskayaUltisa 1, Moscow, Russia 11569,” the security alert from the embassy said. " The U.S. government is coordinating with appropriate Russian authorities on a response."

The alert said to avoid the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve today and added, "Do not approach the specified area, remain vigilant, and avoid places of mass gatherings of people."

The embassy further called on Americans in the country to prepare for if something catastrophic takes place.

Russia's Federal Security Service stated, “We have received information from U.S. partners regarding plans for a terrorist attack in Moscow. We are taking appropriate action."

The US previously warned about the Crocus City Hall terror attack that took place in Moscow that left over 140 people dead and more wounded.

The Tsaritsyno Museum was founded in 1775 as a home for Russia's Catherine II and is now the most popular tourist attraction in Russia's capital. In 2022, the museum alone attracted over 2 million visitors, according to a 2023 statement from Moscow's deputy mayor Natalya Sergunina.

The warning was issued as the tensions between Russia and Ukraine continue to escalate.
