“Among other things, a diverse group of employees helps bring originality and creativity to our merchandise offerings, promoting the ‘treasure hunt’ that our customers value,” Costco said in a proxy statement to investors.
According to its description, the course “examines fatness as an area of human difference subject to privilege and discrimination that intersects with other systems of oppression based on gender, race, class, sexual orientation, and ability.”
It includes template letters for parents to submit complaints to the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, addressing potential violations of Title IX or other civil rights protections.
“The growing use of AI in schools, including for instructional and school safety purposes, and AI’s ability to operate on a mass scale can create or contribute to discrimination,” the guidance stated.
The office’s mission is to “improve the health of racial and ethnic minority populations through the development of health policies and programs that will help eliminate health disparities.”
The pantry had a sign on the door which read, “The resources found in here are intended for Black & Indigenous Folx. Please refrain from taking anything if you’re not.”
