ROD THOMSON: Mamdani's win is a tribute to mass migration

Marxism targets the disillusioned with the lofty-sounding idea of the working class controlling the political, economic, and social structures and thereby the means of production—no more working for The Man!

On Election Night, common sense and Americanism lost all over the nation. Most notably, mass migration took over New York City as Zohran Mamdani was elected mayor of America's most iconic city with the ardent support of the vast majority of New York's foreign-born population. Two major worldviews are 100 percent incompatible with America: Marxism and Islamism, Mamdani represents and upholds both.

America's penchant for waves of mass immigration in modern times, both legal and illegal, is literally importing both philosophies, which by definition cannot exist alongside America as we have always known it, the America that became the greatest and most beneficial nation on earth.

Both Marxism and Islamism run in direct opposition to America's Constitutional and traditional worldview of individual freedom and rights, and a capitalistic society that operates within those freedoms and liberties. Neither have they been nor will they be able to conquer America by force. But they can infiltrate, undermine, and ultimately conquer via invitation, i.e., our terrible legal and illegal immigration system. (See Great Britain, which may be lost, says no less than the Atlantic.)

And both of these un-American worldviews work hand in hand with our completely broken, leftist-dominated university system that now exists primarily to propagandize students into hating America for various shifting reasons, and to mint money on the backs of taxpayers who chose not to go to college—a truly killer trifecta.

Marxism targets the disillusioned with the lofty-sounding idea of the working class controlling the political, economic, and social structures and thereby the means of production—no more working for The Man!

In reality, Marxism ends up as a one-party tyranny under the name of communism or socialism and creates a dystopia of lost rights, falling economies, gulags, mass incarcerations of political opponents, and mind-boggling levels of human slaughter. There is no individual—just the state über alles.

Islamism is a political, ideological arm of Islam that fights, quite literally, to organize government and society according to Islamic law, known as Sharia. Sharia eliminates individual rights and is particularly harsh on women, minorities, and gays. Not all Muslims are Islamists. But a very high percentage are — probably a majority in America.

It is the height of irony to watch how even the most wild-eyed protesters of America exercise their uniquely American individual rights of free speech and protest (neither allowed in Marxism or Islamism) and use every modern convenience and technology wrought by capitalism (which Marxism exists to destroy).

In newly elected New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, we have the confluence of both worldviews. He is a self-proclaimed Marxist, and while only claiming to be a practicing Muslim from Uganda, he seems to continually align himself with the most radical elements of Islam in America.

Mass immigration from Central and South America is less problematic, as these nations share a Christian culture. However, there is also a strong theme of socialism in many of the countries, particularly among those who cross the Rio Grande to sneak into America.

Mass immigration from the Middle East, central Asia, and parts of Africa is importing Islam, even the mildest, non-Islamist forms of which are still incompatible on a large scale with individual freedoms based on the tenet of Christianity that each person is made in the image of God and therefore has inherent rights. This does not exist in Islam, which gives easy rise to Islamism.

The best example of this is in America, in Dearborn, a Muslim-majority suburb of Detroit, where Muslim residents gathered en masse a few days after the horrific October 7 attacks and rapes against more than 1,200 civilians. Their get-together was to celebrate what Hamas had done.

Six months later, in April 2024, hundreds of Dearborn Muslims marched and chanted "Death to America." U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, a Muslim representing Dearborn in Congress, refused to condemn it. It's obvious why.

Dearborn and Tlaib perfectly represent what the mass immigration of Muslims looks like in America. They are not outliers. Pollster Cygnal found, in a 2023 survey, that about 60 percent of American Muslims say that Hamas was justified in their despicable terror attack. That is a substantial majority, and that is what importing from Muslim parts of the world gets us.

Based on these two worldviews, it is no surprise that a vast majority of immigrants and naturalized citizens support a Democratic Party that is increasingly embracing socialism, and while condemning almost every part of America, has nothing but praise for Muslims. This is the party that, when in power, labeled Christians and veterans the top domestic terrorist threat, not the Muslims or radical leftists actually carrying out terror attacks.

Both immigrants and naturalized citizens say by a 2-1 margin that the Democratic Party better represents them than the Republican Party, according to a 2023 Kaiser Foundation survey. California found an even stronger association, with 56 percent of naturalized citizens registering as Democrats, while a mere 14 percent identified as Republicans.

California has 10.7 million immigrants, accounting for approximately 25 percent of all foreign-born residents in the country. Various sources suggest that about one-third of New York City's voters are foreign-born, compared to an average of one-tenth. The declining living conditions for most residents in those two places — except for the wealthy — tell the story.

Abraham Lincoln understood this 160 years ago. "If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher." We can't import these incompatible ideologies and expect to survive.
